And you teach English to Italians, so what is your perspective on English speaking in Italy?
9:29
Well, it really depends on where you are and what level of language we're talking.
9:34
Uh, I would say that, uh, overall in Italy, there's an increasing number of people that are now starting to speak the language, and it's kind of becoming, like, the norm.
9:46
Uh, and also because, uh, allow me to say this, there are plenty of creators working online that are starting to share their knowledge about the English language, and you can see that l- lots of people are just following them online, and they're like, their English improved because there's just been a shift in the methodology of teaching English.

The thing is, the school system in Italy really focuses on two skills in particular, which are reading and listening.
10:18
So the problem with that is that they are receptive skills, so you only passively listen to these things and read these things, right? But you don't really acting on that.
10:29
And there are other two skills that are left out, which are the productive skills, if you reproduce language, you do stuff, which are writing and speaking.
