Episode is today.
10:13
When Deasy makes a crass anti-Semitic joke, which is also historically dodgy when he says that Ireland's the honor of, uh, being the only country which never persecuted the Jews, um, that actually echoes something Daniel O'Connell said.
10:28
And that is a statement that had been true when Daniel O'Connell said it in the start of the 19th century.
10:33
But he goes, "And you know why? Because she never let them in." And then he sort of laughs at himself.
10:38
That's not true.
10:39
There was a Jewish population in Ireland, about four and a half thousand, which is actually more than there is now.
10:44
So there's a small but significant Jewish community, and more importantly, Deasy's statement is wrong because there had been a pogrom against the Jewish community in Limerick in 1903.
