Um, and all sports, really, but, um, I became a journalist, uh, after I got injured playing, um, and became a professional journalist in sort of around 2003, eight years after the game had turned professional.

And it became really clear to me really early that the severity of injuries that players were suffering and the frequency of injuries and the way that they were being managed was basically reckless.
