think that is why farmers always connected with him.

When he researched and developed and worked on Silo, it was very easy for him to get in the tractor with Quint when we made that project, and everyone felt like they were on the same team.

And Perfect Sundays is a tool to get people back into their community of worship, get back into their church, because it's a very entertaining project.
4:07
It's wholesome.
4:08
It's also just real.
4:09
And I think if that's a way to get farmers closer to a Sabbath on Sunday, take a few hours off, give the brain a break, give the body a break, and then let the community witness what they're going through through this show, then that can have unbelievable long-term impacts on the individual farmers, on the community in general, and hopefully, and I'm not just trying to sound like I don't know, over the top, but hopefully on the country, which often really just does need unity and it needs a local buy-in.
4:34
So where do we get to see Perfect Sundays?
0:59
Mm-hmm.
0:59
And that movie follows a rescue of a kid who gets trapped in a grain bin.
1:02
And while working on it, many people requested we do something about farmer suicide.
1:06
But we wanted to make sure it wasn't relentlessly upsetting.
1:08
We wanted to leave farmers with hope, but we did want to do something authentic.
1:11
So Perfect Sundaes felt like the natural extension of what Silo could be, which is get farmers around the table talking about this subject, but in a way that doesn't feel prescriptive, a way that doesn't feel like you're going to a mental health symposium, but through entertainment, 'cause these are scripted fictional dramas with great actors like Jim.
1:27
And so Perfect Sundaes, we follow a family that has recently lost their father to suicide, but they decide that they're gonna rescue the family dairy by turning it into a retail ice cream business.
4:05
But wh- when you look at this and, and obviously, so you've got that and you've seen that rural aspect of it, how did this pull at your heartstrings to say, yeah, this is a topic that we need to talk about and we need more people to be talking about?

So first of all, Sam, why? Why did you guys come up with Perfect Sundays?
1:31
Well, it's a follow-up to a project called Silo that Jim, who I'm standing next to, is the star of.
1:35
And Silo is a feature film about a grain entrapment.
1:38
And while working on it, it became very clear that the stresses of identity and farm legacy can be the straw that breaks the camel's back on a farm.
1:46
In the case of Silo, that's what leads to a grain entrapment accident.
1:49
And that movie follows a rescue of a kid who gets trapped in a grain bin.
