in shows or in movies, uh, as much as you think should, should be seen?

Well, that, no, that's a good question 'cause, like, season one was very much a familiar sort of milieu of L- you know, Beverly Hills and the palm trees and, and we still have all that.

But as a case, we sort of wanted to, uh, we, we thought very much of this season as kind of an immigrant story, and we wanted to have a new...

We wanted to see new neighborhoods and new colors of, uh, of the city.

And, and I think because LA is such a driving city that people don't fully appreciate.

I lived there for 25 years and I, and when we went on our location scout, there were all these neighborhoods that I'd never even been to before because you just, you drive by.

You don't interact in the same way that you might in New York or something like that.

Stepping into season two after season one, Sugar's all on his own now.

It's a whole new cast of characters.

Um, it's really just Sugar in Los Angeles starting all over again, uh, from the beginning.

So that part was like, it was kinda like starting a new show all over again with the same ingredients but making a different kinda cake.

Was there a certain pressure going into a second season or was there like the pressure released because we've already put in a really great first outing that people already love?

I would say the word is the sense of responsibility that you wanna make sure that everything that was so great about season one or the spirit of everything that was so great sort of continues on and that we don't lose sight of that.

And then it's just the challenge of creating a new story and a new, how do we make sense of Sugar's new life? And he's in the same place and he has the same job, but everything is different.

you know, and he's changing and all of his friends are gone.

So like, it felt like pretty exciting territory for us to be working on, so.

So it almost feels like

when you're preparing for the second season in the writer's room.

Oh, for sure.

[laughs]

'Cause then it's done.

But it's, it's, uh, it's hard.

Writing is hard.

This was hard too, but you have so much...

It's not an isolated thing.

You have so many people as a director helping you, and you're surrounded by people who really know their jobs.
