Um, obviously Dan would then move across to the sports desk later in his career, but- but Dan was somebody who you were very close to as well when you were at the Echo.
5:22
Yeah, I think as both of yous have- have said, it was the sense that there was just always that kind of natural inquisitiveness to him.
5:29
It didn't- it didn't matter whether, like you said, Joe, you were on your first day here at the Echo, whether you'd been here 25 years, whether you were work experience, he- he treated everyone with that same kind of just human compassion and- and respect and an interest to- to get to know people.
5:43
And I think that is what always stood out, um, to me.
5:46
And obviously, you know, when Dan made that- that move across from- from a news journalist to a- to a sport journalist, and you know, I- I know a lot of people listening will- will know all about his- his achievements in- in relation to the- to the Hillsborough inquest and, you know, helping our city, you know, achieve- achieve the justice that, you know, all those family...... deserved and, and what a vital role he, he, he played in that.
6:07
But I think one of the big things that, that stood out to me when he moved across to, to sport, Joe, and y- and you'll probably remember this yourself, is, you know, I was a, a young lad in me, in me early 20s and, you know, hadn't worked at the Echo for, for too long.
6:19
But he would still ask questions and, and wanna learn things from you as well.
