And so without much further ado, Sally, I would love to welcome you and ask you to give us an introduction about who you are, where you are, and your midwifery career.

Thank you for having me.

So I've been a midwife for 18 years.

I started out having births at home myself with, uh, a midwife, and just really enjoyed the care that I had, and I fell in love with birth basically through all of that, and decided that would be something I would like to do eventually.

I didn't even start training until my youngest was seven, so I was in my mid-40s by then.

But I received very intimate care in the sense that I had the same midwife for three of my births, and she basically became part of the family.

Yeah, please.

Yeah.

Um, I shared that with you, and that's really what got me into midwifery care, p- pro- providing care, because I wanted to be able to p- provide similar care to my clients, one-on-one personal, intimate care that I received.

And so I didn't actually pursue it until my youngest was seven years old.

So it took quite a few years for me to dive in.

But I was a doula before that, off and on through the years since, since I was having babies and breastfeeding.

But eventually got out of the hospital system to train as a midwife, and then started attending births, and that was in 2007.

Yeah.

And we had our own midwifery board made up of midwives, o- one OB, a lawyer, and a consumer.
