What is the sandwich generation? And you're going to talk about that in an event called the Caregiver Corner, Caring in the Middle.
41:12
Yeah, that's right.
41:13
So the sandwich generation, you know, are people who are both caring maybe for an aging parent or a loved one and a young child at home across the country, A or P, Research has said that there are 17 million Americans who fall in that sandwich generation.
41:34
And here in Michigan, 3 in 10 of our family caregivers, so around 30%, are sandwich generation caregivers.
41:42
So this special event that we're doing with the Allen Neighborhood Center, and I'm happy to partner with them on, we're going to be debuting a new resource guide just for that specific sandwich generation caregiver group.
41:55
because we know that there's unique needs and challenges that they face.
42:00
And then we're going to be passing out free sandwiches as well.
43:02
But the idea of having to care for actual children and aging people can, I imagine, be very, very stressful for the caregivers.

That's a salient message to get young people motivated about Social Security.
15:43
Yeah, you know, I think it is because I think what can make it hard to reach young people to talk to them about Social Security is, you know, it can feel like a faraway issue of like, I have so many things going on in my life right now that, like you mentioned, things are getting more expensive.
16:00
You know, I'm just trying to afford gas.
16:01
I'm just trying to afford groceries.
16:03
Right.
16:03
And it can feel like just, yeah, a faraway problem that we don't need to deal with right now.
16:09
And I think tying in, you know, that the message of social security is important and will make a difference in the lives of not just us, but yeah, our parents and grandparents.
18:05
And I know that AARP is nonpartisan, but I'm just saying philosophically, is that a fair argument that Social Security is unfair to younger people?
