If you're gonna speak to a coach today, and that coach is coaching, say, 12-year-old kids, what is your advice to him in so far as the most important thing that you want to do with those kids on that team? Top of the list, what's number one?
7:13
One word, engagement.
7:14
Uh, at the younger levels at, you know, 10, 11, 12, these kids have to feel engaged.
7:19
Too many times, parents are driving the bus, so to speak, in, in what they sign their kids up for and how they try to frame the game for their kids.
7:30
And so too much of it's being dictated by parents.
7:33
And so as a coach, you have to create a certain level of engagement at the young ages, and I think that's being lost.
7:38
As you're saying, these young, these young players are on the...

... and then has coached high-end kids.
25:33
What are your thoughts on that? Yeah.
25:35
I agree, Eric.
25:36
I love your comment that, you know, you want to meet a child, meet their parents, um, It's really unfortunate now that we're analyzing this clip and making assumptions about kids.
25:46
It really is unfortunate.
25:47
This should never happen in the first place.
25:50
There has to be more behind it for a child to act like this.
25:54
If you haven't seen the clip, you really do have to see it because this kid hunts this player down and doesn't chop him on the legs like he did earlier.

Is this something I should not be doing? Is engaging in a discussion about, well, about this kid and maybe given his age that the complicity or liability should be spread among others?
5:38
But when you hear about this fitness testing being set aside for NHL players, do you see it having any kind of material impact on the players and the team's performance?
5:48
Yeah, when all the chatter about these changes from the CBA taking effect, this was the one that caught my eye as a former player.
5:57
The game schedule is interesting too, right? Reducing the number of preseason games from six to four.
6:03
Reducing what you can make players go through at training camp or even the pre-camp.
6:09
All of this just serves to expedite the process and get people through it faster, probably more safely.
6:15
Focus on injuries are so much more prevalent now than they were 20 years ago.
6:21
But on the game numbers, you're going to take two league games away and take two or add two league games and take away two preseason games.

And Ryan, I think that that is the ultimate and fundamental flaw here is that the drivers of no hard cap are your superstars.
