Okay.

And so I started working with him when I was about 12 years old.
2:32
And, you know, I don't know if really I was allowed to, but I did.
2:37
You know, it started out as, you know, come and help me prep this job, lay out tarps and clean up.
2:42
And so that's where I kind of started.
2:44
And, you know, I worked with him from the time I was 12 up until he retired, which was about five years ago.
2:51
Um, and then I started working with my brother who took over the business and, uh, you know, he still runs the business and I worked with him for probably about three years.

7 MINS LATER

I had no idea.
47:51
What are you teaching, and what do you hope students walk away with? If they truly are paying for this education, what are they gonna get in return?
47:58
It's great to be here, Tom.
48:00
So really, the idea of our creator economy minor here at Syracuse was bringing together two top schools in their respective field, the Newhouse School of Public Communication and the Whitman School of Management, so that students have the opportunity to understand both the art and the science behind this growing creator economy.
48:20
You know, when you think about it, there are 50 million people participating in the creator economy globally this year.
48:27
And it's not just the creators themselves.
48:30
It's, oftentimes, the individuals behind the scenes, those that may work at brands, like you pointed out, for those various sponsorship deals, or even the agents and managers who are helping create them and bring those to life.
48:43
So our goal here at Syracuse, and with the Center for the Creator Economy, is to be able to equip students for those wide range of career opportunities, as well as specialized curriculum to bring that all to life.
49:04
There are a lot of influencers out there, right, who are already making a ton of money, and they presumably didn't study this in school, right? So what makes this minor worth it, would you say?
0:48
But how much bigger is this industry than the personalities we see on camera? Far
0:54
bigger, in fact.
0:54
So when you think about the totality of this, like you pointed out earlier, the industry, the opportunity, it's really the confluence of not only the creators themselves, but things like brand side marketers, the services side practitioners, the people that design the technologies that power all these platforms, and then increasingly the various business affairs aspects of the creator economy.
1:18
So agents, managers, IP oversight individuals.
1:23
It really is incredible that we're reaching now almost 50 million people around the world who are participating in this.
1:30
Millions of them are creators, but tens of millions of them are the economy.

Why hasn't academia kept up with this? Because I This is something I would think five years ago academia could have embraced.
2:08
So Jason, you're spot on.
