You as a hunting partner, has it changed since you've been doing these hunts with Joel, who's in the discovery stage and you are a more experienced hunter? Tell me a bit about what's changed for you and how you see yourself on those hunts.

Well, I feel like there's a couple of different levels to that question.

The first one is kind of the most obvious answer being that I have to teach somebody and I don't think that I'm necessarily a natural teacher.

So it's like learning how to teach somebody is a skill on its own.

I can make a lot of assumptions and jump to a lot of conclusions about what a person obviously should be thinking in a certain moment.

when the reality is they don't have the flip and first clue what to do.

And it's like, Joel, you know, we actually don't have an episode about it, but I did take him to get his first moose.

Anyways, that's what I was saying about self-reflection, right? Like, you know, do you see that? Does that resonate with you? Like that, and how has this changed you being in this situation where you can actually watch yourself on camera you can watch yourself um and and the whole story is about this connection

... to Joel.

So we can get some long- longevity out of the show in that regards, and, and I think, you know, beyond that, as Joel does progress, you know, there, there's a lot of different avenues and different ways that we can take that.

And I don't think we've landed on anything yet because...

Well, maybe it doesn't have to be one thing in particular, but it can be Joel, you know, starting to venture out a little bit more on his own, or he can become, you know, the teacher to people that are closer to him down in the lower mainland.

Because I think I've heard a lot of people say they... a, a big thing is like, "Man, I wish I had a Ryan like Joel has a Ryan." And Joel can become that person to somebody else, and maybe his, you know, his siblings, maybe his children.

Um, and then there's always other newcomers that we can start to introduce as well and, and pursue that.

Oh.

It's serious to find somebody that you can connect with that's always, you guys are kind of always on the same page.

Yeah, I mean, I can speak to that.

I do have, let me see here.

I would say like a couple of like, actually almost up until recently, like one really serious hunting buddy that I know would would love to hunt every bit as much as i do his children are younger so he doesn't he can't get out quite as much as i do so then you gotta i'll rotate between like a few different guys but yeah you you definitely have to kind of be on the same level if you're going to put in and get out of the trip you know what you want it's like you have to be equal participants in that so speaking about you know getting joel into it that was more along the lines of like Him being curious and just me being willing to facilitate and teach somebody who knew nothing about that.

Yeah, you were right to start off by saying that a lot of the joy that you get out of hunting is like sharing it with other people.

But also there's like that renewed excitement over seeing somebody go through things for the first time.

You know, there's a lot of times for us as hunters or no matter what aspect of life it's in, if you're comfortable with something and then seeing somebody sharing that joy and excitement for their first time, is a fantastic way to like relive that excitement for yourself, you know, and see it through their eyes again.

How's that work out?
