The Increasing Bernification of Dems (ft. Ryan O'Donnell)

I, I think I would tell them that there are, uh, a lot of things in, uh, Democratic politics that, that really needs to change, um, in order to win some of these elections.

You know, I think, one is that the idea that if, that if someone is calling themselves a moderate and you wanna win votes, identify as a moderate, that the way to do that is always to move to the center and just run to the right on wherever they need to go.

Um, you know, I think our own research suggests that that's a, that's an incredibly overly simplistic way to understand voters.

Um, and you know, I think, I think another is that it, it's good, right? We've gotten to a point now where a lot of candidates are talking about lowering the cost of living and affordability.

Um, you know, back after the, after the pandemic, basically, people have been telling us, you know, I think, I, I, you know, we sent a slide on the, just, like, how much people care about the economy, uh, for the last, like, three years, right? And it's just, you know, the, the, the line at the top there [laughs] is, is it, right? It's just like, this has been something that voters have been telling us consistently for many, many years, and I think, you know, back a f- a, a few years ago, if you were ones that were talking about lowering costs, people really appreciated that.

Um, but uh, now I think we're getting to the point where it's a little bit saturated, so, you know, people need to actually explain what they're gonna do to lower costs, who's raising your costs, and how you're gonna fight back against them in order to do that.
