know no you're not the only English band even recently that said this Wolf Alice made their last record in LA and said you know we wanted to challenge ourselves not to make dark music but I want to explore this tension on the record because I did I could have never imagined it was actually here's the cynical core in Leeds and here's the let's have an uplift in la i mean how did you plan which songs to do where were you saying you wrote separately and then recorded live like you guys are all in the same room right let's walk me through this like how you actually uh pulled these songs together

yeah i don't know i guess we we came off we'd written a few bits and bobs a few songs and uh sent we we recorded with justin meldore johnson and uh we had a few zooms with him and uh the vibe was good.

So we kind of jumped a bit bullet and was like, yeah, this, this guy, this guy gets it.

And then he came over for, for like two and a half weeks and he he's, he lives in LA, but he stayed in Meanwood near where I am now in a little sort of Hobbit hole in the woods.

And yeah, we just went in with him and just kind of thrashed through all the songs and he really pushed us to, yeah, he just was like, you guys have been playing.

around the world for the last four years together, you're really good live.

And why have you not captured this on record? You should definitely get at least a big chunk of that down.

Is there a standout song at this point, either from making it or that you're just stoked to be able to play live?
