It's like this cycle of manipulation and

self-delusion.

Yeah, and I mean, there's also the fact that within all this, they're trying to redo Theranos again.

That's the other thing that we really haven't even talked about as a group.

Billy essentially grifted on his wife to create, again, this failed product.

I mean, we haven't seen or heard really too much about it, but they're still trying to do it.

But I really feel like this is kind of a special object.

Homophobic.

But also, that's the thing about McDonough.

He writes despicable characters.

He writes anti-heroes.

And that's what Chris, played by John Malkovich, is.

He is this guy that has been around for forever.

And, I mean, like, literally, like, five minutes into the film, you know, Sam Rockwell's asking him, do you like your job? And I think that this movie, what's so great about it, it actually combines both some of the things in Banshees of Nishiran that we talked about a couple years ago with in Bruges of, like, here is the CIA operative that is, like, towards the end of his life.

I hope more people see it.

I want people to see something like this.

This is better than seeing...

This is better than seeing Spider-Man.

People have seen Spider-Man hand over fist.

Why don't you tell us a little bit about that and why I should see it?

We're going to

cross off anything pre-1992, I think.

Well, I will say this about, I mean, he does have a lot of films later on in his career that have fascinating female performances and are actually really good in my opinion, but But I will say about this is that, you know, inside the genre itself, like these characters, like the way he's approaching it, I'm not saying that I don't know how much this script nor Clint Eastwood is really like looking at the past of outside of himself.

I'm not saying he's being selfish in that way, but like.

I thought a lot about with these characters, I thought a lot about Julie Christie from McCabe and Miss Miller, the Altman film, which is like, that is a character that is playing, you know, she's playing a madam and a head of a, of a, you know, of a whorehouse.

And, and she has agency and she's one building money and, and a business alongside with Warren Beatty in that film.

And in this film is that they're, They're tired of, of seeing this, this cycle of violence happen to themselves.

This one I haven't been able to find anywhere.

It's because it hasn't been picked up yet.

And given what the subject matter is about, I don't know if the studio is going to pick it up at this moment, which is a real damn shame.

We're kind of going into a no other land situation where it's about these three doctors that are Palestinian, Jewish, Zoran Asian, and they are going to Gaza.

and they are in the middle of the genocide.

They are providing medicine and performing surgeries on the children that have been bombed.

in the war.

would not argue with you on that for me it's a bunch of other things that I just think are really moving the needle

And yes, it's all put together by his wife, you know, Emma Thomas and Dame Emma Thomas, to be clear.

And his name is Sir Christopher Nolan for anyone out there.

And yet.

He's put them all together to go out on the high seas with this enormous cast just more similar than like Oppenheimer in his previous films.

He knows how to collect some of the greatest actors of all time and tackle the oldest story ever put to page.

And I thought, Christina, it was a bit of a pretty good mixed bag.

You know, they put a lot of tie-ins and happies in those movies as well.

And then the piece de resistance with the third one is we're gonna put every Spider-Man that's ever been on the screen.

And then the marketing for this, which is why I think it's kinda frustrating.

The marketing of this movie has the Hulk in it and the Punisher.

The Hulk, by the way, if you have just...

But first, a little mini review, a mini take to let us know where you are getting into this.

Um...

I thought that this was a lot of fun.

Spielberg described it as a massive chase film.

I kind of feel like we've been getting a lot of these lately and just sort of a massive event leading around this government conspiracy about a company hiding secrets about extraterrestrials on our planet.

What I didn't expect was that Steven Spielberg was also going to make it about us as humans and our ability to handle information and our ability to trust one another with that information and our ability to handle necessary truths in a time of division.

This movie unravels and becomes, Christina, a very timely film And within Spielberg's filmography, you know, he talked about that.

What do you think, what is this in his biography?

This was a kid who started doing YouTube films back rooms when he was, what, 13?

And then he's made these YouTube videos and it's come off of like Reddit comments and then built them out and has now created this film that is about... essentially, this other world that is inside of our world that is like a memory bank that we come to find out for it.

I thought the film Christina was kind of interestingly visually.

I would say that You know, Parsons has a really unique eye and has a very meditative camera on building tension.

And I thought the first hour of this sort of going into this world, not knowing what it is, it was...
