How did you get into hockey if your old man's a hoops coach?

So I'm one of four, and the reason we moved to Amherst, my dad was at Manhattan, Villanova.

um, and then got the job offer at UMass.

So we moved there and, um, it went two girls and then two boys.

And then, um, the girls love basketball.

They played division three.

And then my brother, um, just did like a learn to skate thing one day.

Um, one Ryan, have you watched off campus in two? Do you feel like hockey's having this like very large surging moment?

summer? Yeah, so, I mean, you guys had, like, a little bit of a media thing with KP at some point.

And that was released that we were in talks and started talking, like, around the first week of August.

kind of sat on it for a little bit and we were more just kind of working up against that eight year deadline of September 15th at midnight and obviously you want to get it done before that but I think we got it yeah we got it done the 14th that I think I got a call around like 3.30 it kind of picked up in the last two weeks when I got here and a couple of conversations of what I really wanted and kind of sat myself down and talked to a couple of teammates too that were really helpful as well.

And if you have the chance to lock it up, then do so and win a cup.

What did you learn about the league? What are you going to carry with you now as you get started here for the new season?

Yeah, it was a great year last year.

Obviously, team sake, we didn't get what we wanted and had a little bit too early of a start for our summer that we wanted.

Um, and, and Ryan, we've been looking at a lot of polling data, especially among the young men in Generation Z, I would say the younger end of Gen Z, and Gallup has some new information out showing that when you compare young men and young women, young men are overwhelmingly more interested in things like religion, which really I think is gonna surprise a lot of people because that is not the way it's, it's been, and I, I'm curious your, your take on that.

Yeah, I think there's a lot of explanations for this.

Part of this is just the gender divide and political attitudes as well.

Um, for men, it's become more normalized, and more cool to be conservative.

For women, it's become more cool to be progressive.

Um, there's a lot of things that go into this.

I think one of the primary things is that men are just looking for more purpose.
