Um, but I grew up in southeastern Oklahoma there on what is our tribal, um, headquarters area and the traditional boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation around Ada, Oklahoma.

Um, cut my teeth in enterprise IT there for our tribe, so PC building, servers, data centers, networking, voice over IP for a while.

Um, and then I found myself with a fancy new bachelor's degree in computer science and, um, six-ish years of experience in the industry there from the tribe, and was looking for a new gig and, and found an internship with our office on Capitol Hill in DC.

And, um, man just kinda tagged out.

So that's not an unusual story from where I'm from is like people will leave home and go to DC and, you know, go where the work is, and that's where all the federal policymaking happens.

So I was, um, immersed in tribal political affairs there on the Hill for a couple years, started volunteering for some political campaigns, and, um, really liked this guy with a funny name out of Illinois who was kind of upsetting things in 2007 and got swept up in all that and, um, went to work for the campaign, the Obama campaign, um, the Campaign for Change in 2008.
