I'm not a stand-up comedian, so I've got to ask, like, can you prepare for that? You just spit out whatever comes to your mind? Tell me about hecklers.

Well, that's That's what you're supposed to do is they would come to mind.

But, you know, a lot of times the audience, comedians, we're a little darker than most people can get.

So we go for the jugular, and then that usually turns people against us, even though we didn't start this whole, you know, battle with the person.

So you kind of, you know, it's something that we don't look forward to, and it's not welcome at the shows.

It's just a job hazard, if anything, you know.

When it comes to sitcoms and, you know, the other primetime shows that are on, descriptive comedies, let's say, what do you think of the way television writers are doing comedy these days? Shows are getting cancelled really quickly.

the, uh, The Vault, and it was a nightclub, so they would have like comedy night, and there was this guy out of England who booked the comedy, and I was staying in England back then.

And so it was 200 pounds for the gig, plus they pa- fly you over and put you up.

[laughs]

And now it's not that countryLike, the father's not talking slick to mom at all.

Uh, just Monk, yeah.

And so we were hanging out in Dave's hotel room.

And we're all laughing and joking, and the dog's barking, and we're having a good time.

And then we hear (knocks on table) on the door.

And I'm sitting on the bed, so I can see who's at the front, at the door.

And Dave opens the door, and all we hear is, "Will you keep it down in there?" And Dave looks at me and I look at him, and I go, "Oh, shit." It was, uh, uh, Esther Rolle.

(laughs) She was staying in, either across the hall or in the room next door.
