Um, and we were sitting there, like, "Is this the first chant?" And Sophie was like, "Yeah." And I was like, "Man, it's our ninth year.

That's weird that this is our first chant." But then we looked at the boys team, and I think it's their 136 years or something? 134?

At least, yeah.

And I was going, "Oh my goodness, we're the old people that they're gonna talk about in 100 years" [laughs].

So I just feel like it's kind of part of our duty and responsibility to give people what they want, you know? Keep the Barbas spirit and play, and, uh, just, just their history, 'cause I think that's a part of why rugby's so great.

It's heaps of tradition, heaps of history, and we get the privilege to make some history, so that's pretty special.

[laughs]

Uh, and secondly, teams are absolutely getting better, and it's a- such a good time for the game.

Uh, Wales identified that maul defense blindside.

Italy did the, did a maul try in that last minute of the game.

They identified something as well.

And then the other thing that Zoe wanted to mention, which is actually quite interesting, is England have kind of got this new management staff at the moment, and they're trying a lot of new stuff with attack.

They're r- To me, they're really growing in their attack.

A different point

It was brilliant.

Well, first of all, Jill had her mask on, so I couldn't really understand her.

And then I recognized her accent was from this part of the world.

And I think, personally, one of my favorite stories from the Tokyo Olympics was the GB Sevens program, and how they had really campaigned and, you know, got up, and they got some really good players, um, there.

And a couple of us had even, you know, um, donated online.

Like, it was just...

I just, when you- in rugby, there's so many obstacles, but the key is there's so many champions that are willing to get over those obstacles.

... because I doubt you ever get tired of it.

sort you're a good sort but i know this means a lot to you right like kids can are an amazing charity

absolutely god like i'm really grateful you guys you know um the hits jumping on board and doing this thing it's It's hard yakka for a lot of our kids out there in Aotearoa.

That's the truth.

I think it's really important for all of us who are like, man, how could I help? I wish I could help these kids.

Kids can.

I've seen it firsthand with my friends, my whānau, my nieces, my nephews.

It really, really makes a difference, especially those rain jackets.

What do you reckon is the longest you've stayed awake for, Ruby?

And you talked about the domestic violence that, that you experienced around your family and how rugby became an escape for you, somewhere that you could find joy and- and have some sense of achievement that you just couldn't access anywhere else.

Yeah, absolutely.

Like sports was just such this amazing thing because to me once you crossed the white line it was the absolute equalizer.

It didn't matter where you came from, what you'd been through.

If you played well, that was the fact.

Like, you played well.

So yeah, Mum had to...

And I never thought we'd get to a situation on the eve of a World Cup final where the Red Roses feel like they're the underdogs almost here.
