Lay out for us why you guys decided to introduce this technology, which you call, um, Betty.

Yes, [laughs] Betty.

Um, well, we decided that, you know, we needed to look at other ways to process our workflow every day.

Across the country, 911's facing severe staffing challenges.

It takes a certain kind of person to be a 911 professional.

It requires a lot of different skills that not everyone has, and when you don't live in a population-dense area, it's even harder to find those people.

And so we were struggling with a lot of staffing challenges, and we really wanted to find a way to work smarter and not harder.

How does it work?

How are you feeling?

Um, I am feeling very excited because NENA is always such a great time, and we're so glad to have everybody here with us.

Um, yeah, I'm pumped and excited for the next year, and hopefully we'll have a great time.

Right.

And I, I just want everybody to know, regardless of what their situation is, whether they've retired, whether they're separating, whether whatever, you always have a home here.

What took you to Alaska, and then what brought you back to Kansas?

Um, so my husband and I had two sets of friends, one that he had worked with and one that I had gone to high school with, that were, um, in Alaska.

They were...

One was moving back, and my friends from high school were already there.

Um, in Fairbanks, there's two military installations, um, so my friends were, um, in the military.

Um, and my friend said, "Hey, you know, my husband's getting ready to redeploy.

I would love to have you come here and just, like, maybe you might like it and maybe I could have some friends." And, um, my husband's, um, coworker, he was getting ready to move back up there, and, um, they said, "Just come for a week and see what you think." Um, so we went up there and, um, I'd say by day three, we were pretty convinced-

So how do you think about culture in your center? How do you approach it? And like how does your focus on developing people play into that?
