So how would you describe what happened on the markets? They talk about roller coasters, but I think this must be the ultimate scary mouse ride.
1:40
Yeah, this one went off the tracks for a few hours there on Wednesday and Thursday.
1:46
You know, there we were on Tuesday night, and the election results come in, and the markets were down and not looking very good at all.
1:56
And by the time we got in here the midday on Wednesday, it was one of the best days in ages.
2:02
And then on Thursday, everybody's taking a second look after the rally happened, loses its oomph on the upside.
2:11
And clearly, you know, they want to blame it on the political side of things.
2:14
But, you know, overall, the most vulnerable parts of the market, which had been over in the semiconductors and the AI stocks and the data management facilities, those were all so much vulnerable areas.
7:14
What's going on with gold and silver?
1:31
Have we seen a bit of a meltdown in the AI sector? It looks like the AI
1:37
debt bubble has now burst.
1:41
This was the end of the month, and A big earnings week, so the big names, the outfits, that's Amazons and Intels, just took it on the nose, down 30% on the day on Intel, worst day in history.
2:01
And, you know, these markets, some of them have been looking toppy.
2:05
They've been rolling slowly for months and months as we've had this transition from from the high beta stocks into the ones that have had a much, much better basing pattern and have done very, very well.
2:29
So if we look here, the healthcare stocks, the consumer staples, the energy stocks, they continue to move up.
2:39
Here we are at...
5:27
What's going on with gold and silver?
5:05
What's going on with gold and silver?
5:09
Gold and silver, disappointing here.
5:11
We've got gold sitting now just under $4,000 on the cash basis.
5:17
You know, that was up at $4,700 the middle of August.
5:23
That came over, bought readings there, and looked as though when we sold off to $4,100 that we're going to start to see some decent supports.
5:34
But this has not been a good week for either silver or gold.
5:39
we'll have to wait it out, see what happens in the way of putting in a potential base.
9:47
What's going on with Bitcoin?
1:08
Ross, what happened on the stock markets this week?
1:11
Uh, well, you know, there we were a week ago with the S&P and the NASDAQ sitting at all-time highs, um, and, uh, other indices, uh, having, uh, bounced a little bit off their lows, but this was the week of reversal.
1:27
So, uh, anything that was AI related or semiconductors, uh, uh, chip makers, they had a rough week as, uh, as far as, uh, the market was concerned.
1:38
So, uh, you know, everything down, uh, pretty much, uh, right across the board, except the energy stocks, which, uh, are, uh, doing very, very well, uh, needless to say, with, uh, oil back, uh, right back at the highs again.
1:55
Now, as far as equities are concerned, you know, our, uh, couple of things here.
2:00
Uh, our global M2 money supply model, uh, did sh- does show, um, continues to show that, uh, the tail end of this month, October twenty-eighth, plus or minus a few days, is a good window to see a, uh, a, a low in equities and, uh, a reversal to the upside shortly thereafter.
2:24
So, you know, we've been saying that we'll be, uh, looking for good oversold readings as we get towards the end of the month, and here we are the sixteenth.
6:36
What's going on with gold and silver?
1:35
What happened on the stock markets this week?
1:37
Well, sort of a catch-up happening here.
1:39
You know, we've had the NASDAQ and the S&P have been doing pretty well the last few weeks.
1:47
led primarily by, you know, a bunch of the high tech stocks.
1:50
I mean, actually, in the S&P, I think it's four or five, the five best stocks were up something like 300 points as far as the S&P was concerned.
2:04
And the remaining group of 495 stocks were down, they took the market down by 150 basis points.
2:16
So this week, a little bit of a turnaround.
4:50
What's going on with gold and silver?
1:22
So what happened on the stock markets this week?
1:25
Well, we had a real mixed bag out here these days, you know, and The S&P and NASDAQ are up flirting with their highs of the year, which then happens to be multi-year highs again.
1:40
But when you look inside this, you find that on the calendar quarter three ending here this week, in the S&P, four of the stocks added 300 points to the S&P.
1:57
The remaining stocks subtracted 150 points on the calendar quarter.
2:04
So you can clearly see that this market, with the advanced decline line being as poor as it is, and with the leadership being just down to a narrow group of stocks, there is a lot of vulnerability underneath this market.
2:24
We saw oversold conditions in the unweighted S&P or the equal weighted, as it would be called, and the Russell 2000.
2:34
They got down and oversold pretty much down for six weeks in a row.
7:18
What's happening on the currency front?
3:32
What's going on with gold and
3:33
silver? Quiet markets there.
3:37
We've gone into a consolidation phase.
3:39
Gosh, we've been in now the better part of a month sitting here plus or minus $50 or $100 in gold and maybe plus or minus $100 probably $3 in the silver market.
3:54
So there isn't any real guidance there.
3:58
If anything, I would suspect that they try and do a little bit of a pop to the upside.
4:04
But for now, you want to see them break out through resistance.
5:44
What's happening
1:28
markets, what are they doing?
1:32
Well, we got a mid-week move by the Fed, the quarter point increase in the Fed funds rate.
1:39
And nobody's surprised.
1:42
It was unanimous from the Fed Reserve in terms of coming through with that increase.
1:48
And, you know, if you take a look at what T-bills have been doing, the Treasury bills, they've been basically flat since the beginning of the year.
1:57
And about a week ago, a week and a half ago, They broke out to new highs, not just enough to be of significance.
2:05
And clearly, the Fed, we know, is a follower rather than a leader.

6 MINS LATER

7:51
Anything going on with the U.S. and Canadian dollars?
1:29
What happened on the stock market so far this week?
1:33
Well, it was just a slow erosion until Thursday, and we're talking on Thursday.
1:40
Okay.
1:41
at which point the interest rates, in particular the U.S. 10- and 30-year yields, have moved up significantly.
1:52
You know, they've been slowly working their way higher, but not a breakout this week.
1:58
The 10-year yield is up to $4.95.
2:01
The 30 is up to $5.36.
4:46
And so with
3:01
What's going on with crude?
3:04
Crude oil, we're sitting now at around the $91 level.
3:10
That's been a pretty decent recovery.
3:15
So we're back to the levels that we saw during July.
3:21
From there, we had cratered down to $65 and then came back again.
3:25
It looks like we've got it.
3:28
reasonable base in here.
4:43
What's going on with gold and silver?
1:07
Welcome back to This Week in Money.
1:09
Good to be with you, Jim.
1:12
We had ourselves a fairly exciting week this week.
1:15
You know, we got the markets on Monday.
1:19
We're down and oversold as far as the major indices, the The Dow, the S&P, and the NASDAQ got some really nice oversold signals and buy signals for the short-term traders.
1:36
And then on Thursday and Friday, you've got initially the reaction to the NVIDIA earnings, and the stock moves dramatically to the upside, testing the all-time highs.
1:53
And the equity markets as a whole had a pretty good day.
2:55
What's going on with
