You're very excited about your work with her.
Roopa MahadevanGUEST
Um, it's very recent, and she's, you know, uh, one of the greatest kind of, you know, living sort of, uh, masters, practitioners of this dance form called Odissi, which is from the eastern, uh, part of India.
Roopa MahadevanGUEST
And, um, you know, the, the dance world, sort of the Western dance world has really, um, shed a lot of spotlight on her and is very kind of moved by her dance.
Roopa MahadevanGUEST
And so, you know, The New York Times and The New Yorker, all of them have kind of hailed her as one of the greatest dancers in the world.

And, um, she's actually has premiered a choreographic-- her first sort of choreography, um, to date, um, at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, and so that's up right now actually until the 15th, I think Monday at 5:00 PM Eastern or something it, it disappears.

But, um, I was very fortunate to have been able to, uh, sing for her for that, and, um, hopefully, you know, with COVID, um, hopefully with the vaccines doing their thing and, uh, us achieving some kind of herd immunity over time, we'll be able to tour.

So are the, the things outside of the Carnatic vocal, are they, um, pretty recent or just things you've kind of always been involved in and have more recently s- um, just intertwined with your recordings?
