One of the technological improvements that this project was able to draw on is perhaps best illustrated by how the project team leveraged Bentley software and its open APIs to reduce gate analysis time.

This is one of my favorite examples of innovation on East Side Coastal Resiliency because the numbers make the impact very tangible.

So our team designed the floodgates for the East Side Coastal Resiliency system, and portions of the structural analysis associated with each of these gates could take traditionally about 30 hours when you think about the time required to do the calculations, to design, to do QA QC quality control in a manual manner.

And so our team developed an automated analytical process that reduced the work to roughly 30 minutes.

So the obvious story here is, you know, you can say, "Wow, think about productivity from saving roughly 29 and a half hours on each of these gate design." And of course, that is significant.

But I actually think the more important story is what it does for the engineering process.

Because when an analysis takes 30 hours, every iteration is expensive in terms of time.
