But what was it about you that said, "Okay, this is what I w- I wanna do"? What was it, what was it about the Party that attracted you? 'Cause this has been your lifelong commitment.

Well, I, I would say at the time it seemed the Party had, and, and it did, it took a kind of a non-compromising position on as far as like, uh, with the civil rights, uh, movement and the whole, and, and that whole era.

Uh, it took like a non-compromising position because Marcus, I mean, not Marcus Garvey, but Malcolm had interjected the whole thing and made it a real issue about our human rights.

And it wasn't just about our civil rights, it became also about our human rights.

And that's where the Party really influenced me, is that it took a non-compromising ...

It's like, we gonna ...

The, the system is gonna in- hear us, or it's gonna respond to us, or there's gonna be some kind of action taken other than us just demonstrating and walking up.
