Please explain these votes to the residents of Kelowna.
3:54
Yes, a budget is a comprehensive document.
3:57
In our case, it's a $1.1 billion document and has a variety of expenditures and absolutely support frontline.
4:06
In fact, my daughter and son-in-law, both RCMP, work closely with our firefighters and emergency frontline bylaw officers.
4:14
So I fully support that.
4:15
Within the budget itself, there's all kinds of expenditures that I didn't agree with.
4:20
And for example, you know 1.2 billion dollars for a dog fact that I love dogs but we need to be conscious of how we spend those dollars or 1.2 almost 1.2 million dollars for a sign out in the highway north of the airport so we get 2.4 million passengers come to the airport actually not going to see the sign I just kind of a head scratcher I thought it should be and maybe it reads corner something actually see the sign and say welcome to Kelowna you know things like that so it's not to, you know, saying I don't support frontline personnel.
5:52
What else is on the table, and what would you protect?
3:10
How would you change the approach to social issues taken over the last four years, uh, in the mayor's chair?
3:16
Yeah, social disorder in our community, uh, unfortunately has gotten worse.
3:21
We spent over $80 million over the last four years, and we need to take a different approach, a more regional approach.
3:26
I've had an opportunity already to meet with the mayor from Lake Country, Blair Ireland.
3:31
If he gets reelected, he agrees we want to take a regional approach.
3:34
He said that, uh, this council and, uh, mayors from previous council in Lake Country have never met for 12 years.
3:41
Steve Johnson taking a ch- chain of office in West Kelowna, same thing.
6:38
What's your plan to manage that growth?
2:05
And how would you do it differently than what's being done currently?
2:08
Well, thanks very much for the opportunity to meet with you and to your listeners and to share a little bit more about the platform.
2:16
Yes, it's, uh, crime and safety is number one issue, uh, knocking on doors and hearing from people in the community.
2:23
Uh, I actually have a daughter and son-in-law, both RCMP officers, so they're in Prince George right now, but they have worked in the region, in different communities throughout British Columbia.
2:32
So the fact is that what we're doing right now, what we're hearing is we're obviously-- it's not working when we're dealing with the mental health and folks with addiction and, um, the unhoused.
2:44
So what we've been doing is take a step back with the Crime and Safety Task Force.
2:50
We implemented a few programs, and as we continue to work with our provincial partners, the emphasis has been on more or less what I call sort of band-aid solutions.

11 MINS LATER

14:25
What about roads? What about other types of infrastructure? You mentioned parks, but, um, what about the road networks and, and that type of stuff, s- uh, rec facilities, all that, all that stuff?
1:47
What are your planks? What are the things you're running on?
1:51
Well, that's exactly the new direction I'm looking at.
1:53
Obviously, we need to look at the issue of social issues, homelessness, and mental health, and addiction.
2:00
What we're doing is not working, so it's a big part of my campaign, and more of that policy will be unveiled as the campaign unfolds.
2:09
Looking at providing...
2:12
I support investment in housing and growth, but we have to make sure that I have infrastructure in place first and then growth second.
2:20
We've been playing catch-up.
4:55
Would you pause that? No, it's too far
