TRUMP, PUTIN, DIESEL

Roland FreudensteinGUEST
Why? Because this, uh, means sanctions relief for Russia in a very important sector, fuels, and it means a, a political symbolism, uh, that is extremely dangerous because after having begun to side more with Ukraine in the last, say, six months or so, the US government now seems to be shifting back to a pro-Russia attitude because of what went along with the diesel deal.

Roland FreudensteinGUEST
What, what went along with the diesel deal was that, uh, Trump made up a, uh, a calculus in which any Ukrainian strike against Russian energy infrastructure looks like a strike, a strike against US interest, and that is toxic for Ukraine's, uh, position in the war because it actually may even have negative repercussions for the remaining US assistance to Ukraine, which is, uh, intelligence and satellite imagery, uh, which is crucial for Ukraine's, um, success to stay alive in this, in this terrible war.

Do, does anybody have an idea of how this deal was, uh, started? Was it Trump's idea? Was it Putin's idea?

Roland FreudensteinGUEST
I, I, I mean, I don't know it, but there were, there were two developments over the last couple of weeks.
