like.
14:08
Like we become obsessed with transformation, particularly physical transformation.
14:12
Like how much weight does someone later lose? How unrecognizable are they? How much discomfort do they endure? And all of those things can absolutely be part of a great performance, but they're not the same thing as great acting.
14:24
And some of the most extraordinary performances that I value are subtle and their characters that are more subtle and their performances are about restraint and stillness and empathy and humanity and emotional intelligence or communicating something really profound through like a tiny change in expression.
14:41
And I think of actresses like Amy Adams and Michelle Williams who have given repeatedly like these astonishingly nuanced performances without necessarily having this dramatic press junket and this dramatic story of physical suffering attached to them.
14:56
And neither has won an Oscar, which is crazy despite these extraordinary bodies work.
15:01
And I think there's something very interesting about how we interpret all of this extreme, very visible preparation as evidence of genius and When we could, if we wanted to, just as easily interpret it as weakness or insecurity or a deficit.

Yeah.

... who are essentially saying that they agree with him.
1:37
Yeah, Anthropic's own alignment lead, a man called Evan Hu- uh, Hubinger, he publicly backed the central point, and he said he put the pr- he puts the probability of AI causing human extinctio- extinction at more than 10% within the next decade.
1:50
Like, this is terrifying, and I think what is underpinning this is, first of all, there are all of these powerful, mainly men, ma- male techno-fascist techno leaders, uh, whose politics are either unknown or really, really dodgy.
2:06
Nobody elected them.
2:07
Nobody voted that AI should exist in our world.
2:10
Nobody voted that they should come in with a- regulations.
2:13
This would never happen in any other industry.

11 MINS LATER

13:11
Uh, this does sound like, kind of can't miss, right? It does sound-
11:51
[upbeat music]Ro, tell us please about anti-tourist protests in Mallorca.
12:01
Yeah, tens of thousands of people have been marching through Palma, demanding limits on tourism and action on their housing crisis, and protesters are basically arguing that short-term rentals and mass tourism are pricing locals out of their own communities.
12:13
And there were clashes with police, there were rubber bullets shot.
12:16
But, like, similar demonstrations have been taking place in places like Barcelona and Granada and San Sebastian.
12:21
Um, and I really wanna stress, like, the phrase anti-tourism is very misleading.
12:26
Like, tourism is, everybody knows tourism is es- essentially free money to a city.
12:30
Protesters aren't saying that tourists should stop coming altogether, but what they're arguing is that tourism has grown unsustainable, and that local residents are being pay- are paying that price and being pushed out.

7 MINS LATER

I think that's how it's pronounced.
