In training, I mean, when we used to get, you know, even in kids' training, you'll often do a drill in kids' training where you'll send three guys to defend against the rest of the team.

You'll kick a ball out from the dry line.

You say, right, three, and then you add another defender, four, and then five, and then six, and it's... you know, sometimes three against 12, and you'll play that for a bit in a training drill.

And those sort of activities teach players how to manage space.
