Um, the French, the British, some American researchers, uh, did really superb research, uh, on dreaming.

And what they seemed to say is that dreams, well, not so much function, but mechanism of construction, is that they took things from our memories and, and they found things related to those memories, and they built stories out of them.

And they didn't talk much about function.

So back when it was the gods, the function was that's how gods talked to us.

The function of the dream was to transmit that message.
