[laughs]

And he said, "Well, we don't do that here, but don't worry because if you had it orally, you would also have it genitally." He was flat wrong.

Um, but I didn't know nearly as much about it at the time as I do now, of course.

So off I go to the second doctor, and the second doctor ordered the test and then sent me to the lab.

And there, a phlebotomist did it.

It was not her first day on the job.

She was not a, a young woman.

What, what's your top [laughs] what's your top tip for STI prevention?

But before we get into all of those things, because you guys are doing so much to make sexual health and wellness affordable and actionable for people and it's just an amazing thing so we wanted to talk about all the different things that we have going on but before we do that i want to talk a little bit about the actual sexual health and wellness and and kind of get a little bit of an origin story if you don't mind telling us about why shameless care came into being

Well, shameless care came into being because I had gonorrhea and spread it to somebody.

So I had always imagined myself as like this really progressive guy when it comes to sexual health and had gotten STI tested every six months, I think it was, for years, well over a decade.

And every single time I went, it was a blood draw and a urine test and out the door I go.

And the test always said it included gonorrhea.

Okay, gonorrhea negative, life goes on.

But then I took the test.

So let's talk about medically, what are some of the other medical ones before we start talking about like the oxytocin spray or anything like that? Like what the true kind of medical stuff that's the prescription-y kind of medicine.

So do you wanna just speak on that a little bit?

Sure.

Well, a little history first, Eve, if we will.

It came out in 2006, and at first it was only given to girls, like your, like your daughter.

In about 2013 or so, I think they started deciding, "Why don't we just give this to boys as well?" And they did.

And at that time, I think the top age where it was recommended and your insurance would cover it was 26, I believe.

They've since increased that to 45.

And so I would love to hear your thoughts about what sorts of things we should be having conversations about before we jump into bed with somebody.

Mm-hmm

... and then she was feeding off of that energy and giving it right back to me.

And we're kind of feeding off of each other and having this reciprocal, magical, organic, you know, event.

And so that's exactly the right way, I think, for people to think about these medications, is that they do help.

And sometimes when you're being helped 5%, 10%, 20%, that just makes your energy better, and then that makes your partner's energy better, and then the next thing you know you're having much better sex than you would have in the first place.

So that's exactly, I think, the right way to think about these medications, like Shameless Desire or Shameless Arousal, which is a topical sildenafil cream that you can use externally.

Well, about five or six years ago, I was living my life and getting STI tested every six months.

I felt like that was the right thing to do.

There was never anything wrong with me.

I never felt like there was anything going on.

I just knew that you were supposed to do that, so I, [chuckles] I did it, of course.

So help these guys get in the psychological frame of mind here to first of all realize that this is something we should be paying attention to, and it's something that's really just part of life, not something that's driven by shame, or shouldn't be driven by shame.

yeah me too so you have a story that started this whole thing there was this missed sti diagnosis and it changed your life can you tell us that story let's just jump in

Sure, absolutely.

So I had gotten a full, you know, I'm doing the air quotes, full STI panel every six months and everything had always been negative and it always included gonorrhea.

But then one day I got a text and this was only a couple of weeks after I got my last STI test result back.

I got a text from a partner and she said, you've given me gonorrhea because my husband now has it and everything's pointing back to you, meaning I had infected her and she had infected him.

And obviously she was asymptomatic and I was asymptomatic.

And I thought to myself, well, that can't be.

But can you talk about the ease of not having to go to a doctor's office and wait for an appointment and wait in the waiting room for 10 years and then finally get in? And are you even being tested for what you need? Like, can you just walk us through what that experience is like?

And so let's talk about what Shameless Desire is.

Well, Shameless Desire is erectile dysfunction medication for women basically.

And let's just stop right there for a second.
