Do you think this season we will maybe see the best of him in the Premier League?

i really struggled to see how he's going to turn around um i think he's a he's a obviously a good player nice touches but his physicality i think is a real struggle you know like especially in a position where sometimes you push the ball get your body across maybe draw a foul i've not seen any any of that at all the the good games that he has had was more of other players setting him up and maybe kind of He had obviously created a few opportunities for himself as well, but I think where he's playing now, he needs to be a bit more physical.

And from when he first joined until Sunday afternoon against Newcastle, I've not seen enough for him to go right there is someone there you know like sometimes you see something and you go it just needs a bit of time but with him I've not seen it yet where I can go this year is going to be all right sometimes his body language is a bit poor as well especially when it goes against you that sort of money as well you need goals he doesn't look hungry to score does he yeah I mean the money he hasn't got any say in that whatsoever so I'm not going to hold the fee against him but in terms of basics you know like if things not going on your way just be horrible on the pitch you know you can be horrible as a winger you can run back and give your fullback a problem you can at least get throw and get a free kick be a nuisance for for 90 minutes but he hasn't got he hasn't shown the intensity for me for me to believe that he's going to be progressing this year and I think if he hasn't then by Christmas probably they'll be looking to offload because he's an expensive if it turns out to be that he doesn't improve it becomes an expensive problem for Liverpool because that dropped a lot of cash on him

Looking back at it now, it's like, if you don't perform, you're gone kind of thing.

And if you sort of apply that kind of pressure and communication skills to today's world, I think... you know, you probably struggle, but back then that's the way it worked.

Like I said, I was 18 and I kind of needed that kind of harshness, the brutality of it, you know, just to sort of focus my mind.

And obviously I wasn't in every meeting with other players that he had, but I think the feeling I got was...

He had a very similar conversation with all the other players of everyone's replaceable, you're here to do a job kind of thing.

But he also, in that time frame, he also developed a good relationship with all the players because hard but fair, always kind of honest with his communication with you.

Did he have a softer side as well as what you've mentioned, the more authoritarian side?

How do you look more widely at the current situation the club find themselves in?

Yeah, it just shows you how, uh, how difficult it is.

You know, we all have an opinion.

We all have, uh, ideas how a football club works.

But it just shows you that if you, if you miss a couple of transfer windows, you get the wrong players in, you got the wrong, or players leave, it has a massive effect.

And I think Leicester's been one of those clubs where it had a massive effect, where we haven't recruited great, um, well, not even average, I'd say.

Um, there's been some really poor signings.

How, in your view, do they begin to get themselves back on the right track?

Um, I don't see a benefit of getting rid of, of, of, of staff now, but-

but-Over the summer, I think there, I'm, I'm confident something, something will happen.

What that would look like, I don't know.

When one thing goes wrong, everything seems to fall like dominoes.When Leicester won the title in twenty fifteen, sixteen, was that the opposite? Was that just everything hitting a sweet spot at exactly the right time?

Yeah, totally agree.

I mean, everyone was in a purple patch that season.

We all peaked at the same time.

We, we, we rode the, the wave o-of success.

Was that a moment that you think that feeling changed?

For me personally, it didn't, no.

I know, Wes, you mentioned before it was for you.

Not to be negative, but football, you know, so many things can happen so quickly.

You know, momentum can shift.

You can get a player sent off who's not available, these kind of things.

I always had that in the back of my head going, we can't mess this up now.

So to finally get it over the line, what did it mean to you?

How important was that back then, and how much has that been lacking on the field and in the dressing room in recent times?

Well, [sighs] the game has changed.

I think the sort of the characters have gone out of the game a little bit.

I think, you know, the kinda-The kind of assholes, you know, like I wasn't a particularly nice player on the pitch.

You know, I was always kind of conf- confrontational, I think is the word.

The, the squad recently didn't have that kind of thing where by hook or b- by any means win the game or not, or not concede.

You know, some of the statistics I saw the other day was like, you know, five clean sheets in, like, 35 games, you know.

Does it feel, Robert, a bit like a, a lack of succession planning, a lack of consistency, a lack of proper direction in that particular respect?
