it's pretty complicated in a way, and I think I just figured it out recently because a friend of mine asked me to talk about the impact of Francis Bacon on science.

And what happened was that this is the standard story, and it's true, is that Bacon wanted to dethrone Aristotle.

Aristotle's kind of considered the ancient Greek philosopher most concerned with science.

He wrote directly about it.

And he used a method called deductive reason using the syllogism method.
