In my favorite newspaper smuggling story, I was a private pilot, and, uh, I had some sources inside DEA that told me in the Turks and Caicos on the island of South Caicos, it was taken over by drug smugglers.

So I flew down there, and on the flight, uh, there's a radio frequency that pilots monitor when they're way out over the open ocean.

I was 600 miles from Fort Lauderdale to South Caicos, so there's a lot of open water.

And this guy gets on the radio and just starts saying, "Somebody please talk to me, talk to me, talk to me." I thought, "Who taught this guy radio procedure? What's he doing?" And finally I said, uh, identified myself and airplane number, and he said, "I, I'm on a plane with three, three passengers.
