So for listeners who may be unfamiliar, what is breast implant illness, and how has your understanding of it evolved?

Yeah, I think, um, you know, implants have been around since 1962.

They were placed for first, uh, time in a cosmetic situation in, uh, in Houston, Texas.

1962.

So since that time, there's been quite an evolution of the devices.

They've had their, um, moments when there's been, you know, more and more problems with them.

And then, um, as we look at it now, there's a lot of devices in the marketplace, and the most of them are cohesive gel implants.

Okay.

Yeah.

And then throughout training, I was looking for the next, uh, step, what was gonna be what I would be passionate about.

And during a research year, I concentrated on, on microsurgery in a vascular biology lab, and I became very interested in microsurgery and looked about, you know, how could I do that as a, a discipline.

And really that left you with a couple choices.

The most logical choice for me was, um, uh, plastic surgery.

Got a bug flying around my face.

And, um, the reasons being I could operate on, uh, age groups, uh, different types of, of patients with different problems.
