And there is... risks i would say i mean you have a job outside of this so that's different to sharing those types of opinions when you're thinking about you know politics the thing you shared on fourth of july i thought was so cool and you obviously served in the military have skin in the game you understand it very well tell me a little bit about the thought process of sharing you know some of your political views and things like that on a platform where that might not be the most popular opinion

Rob PerezGUEST
Yeah, I learned this from the Shutdown series, but I have a lot of content creator friends who specifically do politics.

Rob PerezGUEST
And I think the biggest thing that I saw from them is – and I mean this not in a negative way, but when you just constantly scream at your camera and explain how everything is wrong – you lose viewership and you lose traction.

Rob PerezGUEST
You're gonna get the people that already agree with you to keep agreeing with you, but the people that disagree with you are just not gonna listen at all.

Rob PerezGUEST
So with the government shutdown series, I decided, why don't I educate? Why don't I talk to it in a, in a normal tone in a pretty unbiased a lot of people were like oh you're still biased though because we know how you vote or how you feel politically and i was like oh totally i'm not here to say that i didn't do that um but everything i talked about was factual i gave historical examples i gave examples from both sides republican and democrat whether it was good or bad i always gave both sides and said here are examples of x y or z that changed the game.

Rob PerezGUEST
And that's why I think those videos were doing a quarter million to half a million views every single day was just, had people that dm because i would post usually i would film edit it at night wake up at like five in the morning finish editing and then post by like 8 a.m and through doing that um people literally dm'd me and were like you're my morning news now i just go to your login to your page and i know around 8 a.m i'm gonna get a new understanding of what's going on in today's government shutdown um and that was kind of an aha moment of like okay so if you educate Yes, you will still always make someone mad.

He was knocking everybody out, then, you know, here comes The Wolf out of nowhere, and he couldn't put me to sleep.

Rob PerezGUEST
He hit me with a, um, a hook to the top of the head in the first like 10 seconds of the fight.

Rob PerezGUEST
I stumbled back, bounced off the ropes ready to come back at him, the ref stopped it.

Curious to get your thoughts on what the Trump presidency means for biotech in particular.

Rob PerezGUEST
Look, I want to clarify, I'm nowhere near as insightful as the other speakers and many in the industry speaking about what the administration might mean for biotech.

Rob PerezGUEST
I think about it in terms of the areas in which I'm focused, which is kind of people who are impacted by poverty and income inequality and and in particular, people of color and their ability to access our industry and grow and thrive in our industry.

Rob PerezGUEST
And both areas are, you know, admittedly, it's not like either side has the answer.

Rob PerezGUEST
And both areas have been challenging over decades but as I think about it and I think about what what I need to do and what I think our industry needs to do in relation to those maybe tangential but to me quite important issues is to really focus on how we can work together as effectively as possible in those areas so the the just to clarify my comments they've really been more focused on the areas of interest to me and where I, um, kind of spend my time, uh, thinking and, um, and kind of my differentiated, um, energy on, um, you know, what's important.
