You've been traveling a lot, though, so I didn't know if you were going to be here.

Yeah, it's been – we've had a little bit of official side business this week.

So, you know, still senator, still got that going on.

We met – had some ag committee folks up, and we met with some – Sugar beet growers up in Norman County.

And then also I'm on the Veterans and Military Affairs Subcommittee, and we went up to take a look at the air base up in Duluth because they're trying to get – they have F-16s right now.

They're trying to transition to F-35s.

The number of air guards that are going to have F-35s will be small, and we put some money in the bonding bill to give them some new facilities.

on face value.

But I'm curious just your reaction to this latest news that, hey, $200 million that you were supposed to get, don't count on it anytime soon.

Sure.

And, you know, I think if they had said, you know, we're not giving you this $200 million because you haven't done X, Y, or Z, or you need to do these things, you know, I don't know what that list would be, but they've just said, we're not giving you $200 million, but we're not telling you why.

And so, you know, as a state and an agency like DHS, what are they supposed to do? How do they figure that out? Because all of the other, you know, down the line, we have complied with every single demand that the Trump administration has asked of Minnesota, and we've done that.

They made us do a revalidation program.

They gave us five months to do it, where most of the time they give states two or three years to do this, so we're supposed to do it in five months.

And so...

I'm curious your response to that.

Any truth to it, Senator?

Yeah, I mean, I think certainly those shoreline things and, you know, docks and boats were blown and flipped over.

And that's a whole, I think right now, you know, the main focus is about, you know, making sure people have, you know, shelter and a safe place to stay and a safe place to live.

The Becker County Sheriff, Todd Glander, he took me around, you know, and showed me all the sites that they've been working on and, you know, talked about, you know, the houses that they had to scramble over, you know, trees to pull people out of.

immediately after the storm.

So, I mean, his crew, a big shout out to them.

I think they've done a really good job of responding and really good coordinating, not only with the other local agencies.

I know that some homes are pretty nice cabins, but did you hear any stories of people that had to seek shelter elsewhere?

No,

it's not.

There is also a bill about combating fraud in higher education.

Not something we have seen a lot of up here, but, you know, we've seen it in other states, and so we want to be out ahead of it.

But people who are, you know, kind of ghost students, It's been a little problem at some of the community colleges.

You kind of register, you get that financial aid, but you're not actually a person because a lot of you can register for online classes.

I know there was one community college that was really having a hard time with this and just chasing down ghost students.

They pretty much drove right in front of you,
