And how did it develop from there? Then did it pivot into something else or did it kind of just grow beyond what you thought it was going to grow?

Rob HunterGUEST
Early 2010s was when I owned my stores and in Canada at the time, you could open and get bombarded with a hundred paper copies of resumes, right? Like sourcing of candidates was not an issue.

Rob HunterGUEST
But when we spoke with employers in Boston and sort of the major cities in the US, turns out that like actually quantity of candidates was the primary issue.

Rob HunterGUEST
Quality would be great if we were even getting anybody to apply, right? And so that was an area for us to say, well, wait a second, maybe we want to be introducing less friction into the application process than more.

Rob HunterGUEST
And what we found was the video was a great sort of signal for employers when candidates did it.

And as you reflect back, was there any things that you did really, really well that were a particular cat? Like, I really like what you said before, for example, of like, it almost felt like you had this foot in the door uh methodology like you'd get into one tim hortons or duncan or mcdonald's or whatever and then that made it much easier to be like hey we're already working with john down the street you know immediately in the buyer's mind they're like okay these guys are these guys are awesome was there anything else that you guys did from a whether it be a strategy perspective or a tactical implementation piece that i suppose played a role in the growth of the business

Would that make you a better player? Do you think if you actually almost force yourself to try and play the other side, you know, if you're a control guy, but you kind of dabble with some aggro type armies, is that something that you think would make you a better player? Or does it just kind of suck the fun out of it if you're doing a play style you don't really like?

Rob HunterGUEST
If I can jump in, yeah, I think that technically speaking, you would be a better and more well-rounded player if you'd played the other play styles.

Rob HunterGUEST
A big part of the game is trying to predict what's going to happen in the game, right? You look at your board state, you understand what you're trying to do, you're trying to understand what the other guy's trying to do, and you're trying to react to that preemptively.

Rob HunterGUEST
And so having played the other play styles will give you an advantage in that because you'll think more thoroughly or more holistically about the game.

Uh, didn't really have much, much planned, you know, for where I was going at that point in my life.

Rob HunterGUEST
But, uh, [lips smack] a few of my friends, and they made some choices that I knew if I'd made that I'd be on a totally different road, so it was the Army for me.
