At what age did this become an idea in your head that was feasible?

Um, I wanted to check this out when I knew, uh, that you were going to ask me this question.

Uh, so I was looking back through some old, um, scrapbooks that I used to keep, and it would've been 1976 when I think I had the first idea in my mind that this was what I wanted to do.

Because there's a, um, news article in a, a scrapbook that I've got, uh, from the old Dudley Herald newspaper where I'd actually been into their office.

I must have...

I used to bombard people with letters to try and get a break, and they must have been one of my victims.

So they'd invited me in, and they'd done this photo shoot of me in various guises, dreaming to be, um, a journalist, first of all, and then a subeditor, and then an editor, in which they, they'd done this, um, four-photograph, um, layout.

Mm.
