I did do tent tools and DAV, but before that I started off as an army cadet.

So at 12 I joined my local army cadet force, which was based in my school, but I wasn't actually allowed to be in uniform until I was 13, so I had to spend a fair bit of time just sort of in civilians, as it was called.

And I absolutely loved the cadets.

It kind of completely shaped me as a person, as a teenager.
