OCTOBER 15: Columbus City School closures, Issue 9, New Women's Suffrage Monument at Statehouse

Brynn CaswellHOST
me okay so issue nine when i think about it it's basically expanding city council from nine members to 13 members give us the basics

yeah i mean this is a radical restructuring of columbus city council you know we've had a system in columbus for about 100 years of all-at-large council system meaning that voters voted on every member of city council what issue 9 would do would transition council to nine members that would be elected directly by districts rewards so just the folks that lived within those nine districts would vote on those council members while then adding four at-large seats.

There would be two at-large seats that would be added, and the 2029 election cycle as well.

So we would maintain the nine districts that are in law today, but create those as true districts.

So only, again, the folks that live in those areas would vote on those council members, while, again, adding those at-large seats over time.
