Do you remember what your first couple of projects that you worked on, Swotor, was?

Rob ChestneyGUEST
And Daniel and Eric, and I think Daniel, in fact, he came with a lot of these ideas and kind of, like, you know pitched them on me and then i wrote them off and we went back and forth some of them i i you know i feel like i contribute a lot too but it was uh it was really just the two of us working on several of those actually actually before that the fashion documents we wrote a faction document for the republic one for the jedi one for the sith one for the empire one for the huts one you know so on and so forth how cool is that you know these are still the practices that i use today when i'm world building is i use these like hey we need to write these things and a lot of it is just on us to figure these things out as we're writing them they become references for the whole team as development goes forward but but in a way the most important thing they do is let us think through things at a level where we're actually writing them out rather than just putting them as a bullet point on a powerpoint um that's another huge discussion about game design by powerpoint versus you know design documentation but um yeah so that was that was the first stuff that i worked on was uh were these sort of fundamental narrative design uh documents the details and you know we would go through for like alderaan we'd you know write up about the economy we write about what's the cultural conflict there who are some of the major players in the in the conflict that's going on in alderaan um and uh and that was super fun really cool and then you know and then those just became like the the very foundation of when we went to write stories there later um a lot of that lived on though it always it surprised me a lot five years later to look back and be like wow these characters that were mentioned in those documents written way back then are still in the game um including some of the stuff

How do you feel with criticism? Does it hurt? Do you look at it and accept it? What's your opinion on that when you read it?

Rob ChestneyGUEST
In fact, I had some very deep, introspective conversations with Daniel during the early days of Bioware, and it took some really hard blows to my ego and my my faith in myself as I got criticism.
