Oh, what's happening on the island today?
45:52
Well, we've got Loren Dirksen is gonna be making, I think, three different stops on the island, including in Langford and, I believe, in the, in Sooke as well, where there's that hotly contested riding.
46:01
The, the, um, Juan de Fuca-Malahat riding last time was one of the closest ridings in the province, and this time around it looks like it's gonna be a very competitive riding as well.
46:10
So he's going there.
46:11
We've got David Eby is up in Kelowna this morning making an announcement, I suspect, suspect about healthcare in a riding there that's also expected to be very close.
46:21
40 votes decided Kelowna-City Centre last time around, with the Conservatives eking out a win.
46:26
And so I know that's an area that traditionally has not been an NDP area, but it's one that David Eby has spent a bit of time already on this campaign.
48:43
D- d-, uh, uh, are, do their numbers suggest that's gonna be a close one, and is that why they're starting to focus there? So maybe, uh, uh, Juan de Fuca-Langford there is one to watch.
72:15
How is this playing out in the campaign? I know it's fresh, but boy, fairly aggressive by the NDP here, and maybe a bit risky?
72:25
Yeah, I think you're right.
72:25
I was just speaking to a colleague in the press gallery here.
72:27
We're at a curling rink, so if you hear the background noise, we've got David to be able to come out for a photo op on a curling rink.
72:33
There may be thin ice metaphors that get on TV.
72:37
But, yeah, I think it's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out because, you know, initially, midday yesterday, it was reported to the press that it was going to be a tax, a new tax bracket of a million dollars or more, and that was being called the millionaire's tax.
72:51
But embargoed until 5.30 yesterday evening, EB then kind of flushed out the details, which, as you just told the listeners, include a tax on people making more than $190,000.
74:43
Has he been able to blunt that in midpoint of the campaign or at least a couple of weeks in? To
22:55
Do you think it's fair to say?
22:57
Well, and I'll confess to FOMO on Friday, I wasn't working on Friday, which was a crazy day, although the weekend I spent a fair bit of time working.
23:04
But yeah, I think a lot of people were surprised actually that it happened yesterday with Carrie Lynn Finlay, because a lot of people felt like she was going to dig in her heels.
23:12
She's got about eight, I would say eight loyalists in the BC Conservative caucus who are probably very upset today.
23:18
But the resignation letter she sent out, she said she had to put the best interests of the province and the movement front and center.
23:27
She acknowledged she'd made some decisions that she would do differently if she had a do-over, and she took ownership for that without identifying them specifically.
23:34
But I think there was especially certain staff hires that were seen as being poor decisions.
25:22
Like, do you anticipate that the center, the center's party that was forming and the Conservatives, like something might... essentially unfold there where they amalgamate i i was at this event this weekend where i ran into somebody who ran one of the other conservative um candidates campaigns and he was telling me that christy clark is in very serious discussions they're trying to lure her over like what what what might happen there
