As a leader, how's that shaped your perspective on systems change? And what are some of the hardest things to change in the big type of service delivery systems that the public sector is responsible for?
7:56
Yeah, I think.
7:58
the way you change systems is changing the individuals that control them.
8:03
And so obviously the long-term systemic change is legislation, but to get legislation changed, you need to work with all levels of government on the way up and including the members of parliament.
8:15
And so sometimes that's about changing hearts and minds or making people aware of an issue that exists that needs that change and then getting into a priority list of other things that other groups are doing.
8:26
So there's a fair bit, as I've mentioned before, that relationship building and confidence and the trust that they have in the information that you're giving them.

What do you think are some of the challenges to building that sort of positive, inclusive workplace culture in the sector today? You mentioned funding, but do you think there's a sort of a cultural or a mindset attitude that's also significant?

4:56
And so to be able to drink from the well, you've got to fill it up.
4:59
With great days like today, with going to the gala, that fills my well.
5:04
So as long as I'm filling the well with water, on the days where it looks hopeless or terrible, I hear those... particularly those really vile stories from people, then you need to go and have a drink and look after yourself.
5:16
So self-care is important in these roles, as in everybody, but particularly these roles when you're facing that sort of thing.

If I made a complaint on Monday that I was vilified at South Melbourne Market, which hasn't happened yet, what is the time frame or the process? Can you walk people through how they actually reach out to the Commission? What then happens? We have been
