I was just curious how you came about to this film, why you decided to tell it, and what's your backstory?
2:29
Right, well, so I've always been some sort of serial entrepreneur as I started my filmmaking.
2:35
I was down there in Houston, Texas.
2:36
First, I wanted to be an actor, and then I couldn't find nothing to act in.
2:41
And I just bought me a camera and started filming.
2:43
I filmed a little series in my neighborhood, and it got popular.
2:48
I signed a deal with it.

12:23
Do you have an opinion as to why that is? Like, what are the systemic issues at the root, perhaps? What is going on?
16:08
But, uh, did you expect it to be this close?
16:11
No, not at all.
16:13
Like, uh, yeah, it was interesting how that happened.
16:17
Right.
16:18
Um, I guess we spent a lot of time together, you know, and, um, Yeah, like, I have a hard time explaining it.
16:28
It just organically happened.
16:30
Our characters match, you know, traveling to Ottawa together and a lot of other behind-the-scenes stuff.
17:19
You set out to tell the story of one young man's journey, but I am curious, what do you hope people take away from Nakai's story? But is there anything that you learned about yourself throughout it as well?
8:23
We need to actually hear it at this point.
8:25
Exactly.
8:26
You know, I mean...
8:29
I mean, I don't know why they hit it, to be honest.
8:31
I mean, I know why, but technically, we need to save these children.
8:36
What's the better way than showing what happened? In the 50s, there's a child called Emmett Till who became, unfortunately, one of the leading factors to the Civil Rights Bill, right? But when his mom decided to open the casket and show the world what these two men did to her son for being a black child, right? And that changed everything, you know? So, a story like Nakai's.
9:02
Nakai was shot.

So what's that like?
