Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself and kind of as a physician, what led you down the road of studying parenting and writing a book about it? What led you down that path?

I'll try and give the shortest answer possible.

So I'm an endocrinologist, which is hormones and deal a lot with relationships through that.

So people come to see me with hormonal problems and that obviously impacts on relationships, sexuality, other issues.

So there's a huge element of relationships counselling in a sense in that interaction often and I'm also a geriatrician which is an elderly care physician and geriatrician work is all about families and understanding family dynamics and dealing with everything that goes with that so they always say that geriatricians the hard part is the kids not the patients and paediatrics the hard part is the parents not the kids so that's certainly true so in my career I I climbed the ranks quite quickly and rather to my surprise, and I ended up in quite high positions of medical leadership.

I was head of all the public hospitals in Western Australia, head of the Australian Medical Association, public hospitals.

I was head of all the hospitals of all the doctors at my hospital.
