oh nice yeah i mean i like to be a little bit different you know stand out from the crowd at least try to i absolutely love the film i don't say that lightly yeah it really kind of stuck with me for for a while after watching it really loved it so initially then what what were the kind of this this what was the starting point for you what was your kind of first point where you're like okay i need to make this film

Rick StantonGUEST
so basically a couple years back i was up for this scheme that channel four does called four stories yeah and four stories is basically a scheme they've they were running for about three years in a row which were an opportunity for new writers to get their they submit their work and then three pieces of work were chosen and they were half an hour films and then with those new writers they get new directors who are also uncredited with tv or film and to come on board as an opportunity for those to direct something that will end up on Channel 4.

Rick StantonGUEST
And it's a great scheme because lots of those films have been nominated for BAFTAs.

Rick StantonGUEST
Most of those writers and directors have gone on to do other work, work for Netflix and other shows.

Rick StantonGUEST
I know one of them went on to direct some Top Boy episodes and stuff like that.

Rick StantonGUEST
um another the writer who's somebody i know went on to write for a show called chaos on netflix and basically i was up for that and i got to the final round where i read the script and i was going to be trying to be one of the directors and i went into channel four and pitched my version of the script and it went really really well and i thought i had the job in the bag i was really excited about it and then a So then I thought, okay, let me sort of prove to them and everybody else that I could do my own half an hour kind of as a calling card really to say, look, I could do an episode if I'm given the opportunity basically.

Rick StantonGUEST
So then what happened was the last scene in the film is a sort of very violent encounter that the lead character has when he's walking home.

You know, how much work went into kind of creating those feelings that this guy is, is a wrong and sort
