Um, and when you see your students, your novices, uh, those without any formal training taking on the craft, what are the skills that they really take sort of time to build themselves? I mean, is it confidence? And, and I mean, I know that they're in front of you for a limited period of time, and what aspects, uh, that have, you've noticed people can pick up really easily?

You know, uh, confidence is something we, we teach, and confidence is really, really important when you're picking up a power tool.

The last thing I want is someone to pick up a, a, a powerful router, you know, or a big, uh, circular saw and not have an assertive grip on it and not, and not use it with, with, you know, absolute confidence.

So confidence is something that you teach as, as well as pick up.

But, um, but I think what takes time and what I think takes practice and, and is difficult to acquire is attention to detail-

Yeah, absolutely

... then that's the kind of attention to detail that will serve you in making better furniture and, and, you know, fulfilling better woodworking projects.

And, and I think at the beginning, for me, certainly, I mean, some people are just naturally, you know, have that tendency to, to really want things lined up and have, have that sort of brain.

What is at the heart of the problem that we continue to see so many cases blowing past these deadlines?

Mm-hmm.

Well, I don't know about the numbers.

There are too many.

I think that one stay of proceedings is one stay too many.

In our society, there is no reason why cr- why criminal trial should be stayed because of delays.

You have to realize that when, when Jordan was released, um, first of all, I was in dissent.

How much do you expect that AI is going to change the practice of law?

What are you, um, what are you doing at the moment? What of, what aspects of y- work have you been taking in the past six months? How are you finding it?

Yeah, it's actually going really well.

So I've been enjoying, um, branching out a little bit, doing a fair bit of painting and decorating.

And if you'd have asked me sort of three or four years ago, "Are you up for that?" I'd have said, "Uh, probably not.

Not my bag, no thanks." And I really enjoy it.

It's, if you, if you can really just change your, um, change your perspective, change your outlook, change the, the mindset before you start painting and decorating, and s- uh, tackle it with the right attitude, it's actually a really enjoyable process.

Do you think that trend is set to continue? If, if we've got a shortage of skilled labor coming through, you've got a good c- client that you've built wardrobes for and they can't find a painter, do you think more people are gonna be doing this?

My advice would be yes.
