was
21:15
specifically nice in terms of our workload for the day.
21:20
That'd be nice.
21:22
Probably as a hard-nosed editor, I would hate for the traffic to be soft on the day because of it.
21:30
When Burnham came into government, the first thing he said was, I want to give breathing space to people and businesses.
21:36
And he's kept using that phrase throughout his time as prime minister.
21:43
And I suspect that's going to come up an awful lot during the budget.
24:26
I don't know.
0:47
Could you just unpack that for us a little bit, please?
0:50
Yes, certainly.
0:52
The digitalization or digitization, I'm sure we'll talk about that a little later on, the digital journey that tax authorities have been on for the last 15, 20 years or so has really fascinated me.
1:06
And I have been, until very recently, a big proponent of the idea that a lot of the interesting stuff that happens in the world of accounting technology is actually on the coattails of regulatory change.
1:25
So in that way, kind of innovation comes from the fact that the ability for tax authorities to take advantage of new software and new infrastructure that's out there.
1:35
And things like MTD and various guises of it are kind of good examples of that here in the UK.
1:42
It's the same everywhere, all over the world.
6:30
And I guess that would, you know, there are plenty of benefits to that approach.
12:08
Richard, do you want to take the reins with your first suggestion?
12:15
Well, why not? As we all know...
12:17
The enthusiasm is palpable, I love it.
12:23
Why not? The thing that makes a TV show work is characters.
12:28
People having that one central character that you can all get behind.
12:33
Or that villain, that one villain that suddenly almost becomes a pantomime villain, who knows? And when you think about accountancy...
12:41
There's not often that one character, that's that one person that you say their name and suddenly, immediately, everyone has an opinion.
16:04
She loves it, yeah.
