Rhonda, let's hear a little bit about this backstory.

Okay, so in 2008, JD Hartman suffered a non-fatal drowning accident.

He had a very severe anoxic brain injury.

He lived in my community in Circle C in Austin, and I didn't know the family when the accident happened, but I just kept feeling called that I wanted to help his family.

So it took a little while, but I was able to get in front of JD's dad and just offer to help in any way I could.

His family, JD and JD's mom, they were in Dallas for an extended period of time in rehab.

So he was on his own trying to work and trying to be a mom and a father to three girls.
