What do you think women need to consider when it comes to how they either eat, how they train, how they live in the lead up to their cycle? Now, I know this is a bit of a Pandora's box because everyone's body is so different, but as a general rule for those who are struggling with hormones, particularly around the time of the month, what are some of the approaches you take?
21:08
This one's a tricky one because there's not a whole lot of research in it, right? But anecdotal research and looking at clients and there's a huge movement now towards cycle syncing, which really just is a framework, right? Where you start to track your cycle.
21:21
So it's just creating awareness.
21:23
You're creating the awareness of, okay, I know my hormones are low the day my period starts for the next kind of 10 days.
21:30
It's the follicular phase, you know? So the follicular phase would be the two weeks before ovulation and your luteal phase is the two weeks after ovulation.
21:37
But understanding that the week before your period, that's the second half, the luteal phase, that's really where a lot of people overeat because your body needs more glucose to produce progesterone, which is like our calming hormone, our hormone that allows us to become pregnant.
21:55
And when we kind of under eat and restrict too much that week and we try and eat like the rest of the month, that's where we start to really crave a lot of sugary foods because your body needs that extra glucose for the progesterone production.

But when it comes to cortisol and what you know now and all the education you provide to people you're working with, people online, what's something that you wish you knew about either stress or cortisol that you know now that would have helped you massively back then?
