In terms of the controversy now, to where we started, you know, what has it been like for you watching all of this controversy around the exhibit unfold in our community?

Rana AbdullahGUEST
You know, the exhibition generated those discussions and there are some meaningful conversations.

Rana AbdullahGUEST
What has been really disappointing, despite we've been elated and very happy to see how Nakba was recognized in Canada's National Museum and the history that shaped my ancestors for almost a decade.

Rana AbdullahGUEST
eight decades, but it's disappointing that the public discussion that followed, instead of listening to the voices of Palestinians and Nakba survivors and their descendants who shared their memories and lived experiences, much of the debate was focused on what non-Palestinians think that what the exhibit should say.

Rana AbdullahGUEST
It has been like it's to break our hearts even more that our elders in the community who shared their oral history and painful lived experiences are being ignored or treated that their stories is an error because they do not reflect the language that non-Palestinians believe should be used.

Rana AbdullahGUEST
And instead of listening to those voices, much of the media attention has focused on what the Nakba exhibit should say.

Like when people email you about it, are you hearing support or like what do you hear directly about it?
